On Tuesday the 11th of January, Entier was proud to host the Springboard FutureChef regional final at its Westhill premises.

FutureChef is a schools-based programme that supports the development of key life skills whilst inspiring young people to pursue an exciting career within the world of hospitality.

Entier’s executive chef, Orry Shand said he was blown away by the standard of competitors with some being as young as 15 years old. The organisation and passion, they showed in the one hour cook off was outstanding. The young chefs had to produce a hot main course for two people using just a five pound budget per head. They amazed the judges with their level of cooking, along with the execution of these dishes. A chicken and haggis ballotine and a smoked haddock risotto with a soft poached egg really hit the mark.

Graham Mitchell, executive head chef at the Newmachar Hotel said that it’s great to see how kids get involved with the concept every year. This year even more so with the challenges and restrictions that face us all. As Springboard ambassador, Graham contacted Entier’s CEO, Peter Bruce who offered their premises to host the competition, Graham was delighted with this as it’s an amazing venue and ideal for such competitions.

This year’s winner, amongst some fierce competition, was Phoebe Lawson form Mackie Academy.
