On Friday the 27th of September we held a Coffee Morning here at The Olive House in Westhill, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. There was a huge selection of home bakes such as Spiced Chocolate Brownies, Oreo Cookies, Salted Caramel and Chocolate Cheesecake and much more.

What is the Macmillan Coffee Morning? The first Coffee Morning happened in 1990. It was a small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their drink to Macmillan. It was so effective, that Macmillan have decided to do it every year! Now Coffee Mornings come in all shapes and sizes. From small home gatherings to large corporate events; school fundraisers to a gathering with a local community group.

The Home Bakes were judged by our Head Chef Andrew Clark and Karen Black from Hospitality Training.

All bakes were thoroughly enjoyed by both judges, but winners had to be picked and they were:

3rd Place – White Chocolate and Raspberry Vanilla Sponge by Katie Duncan
2nd Place – Crunchie Cheesecake by Brian Knight
1st Place – Orange Spiced Cake by Fiona Bruce
